Every interaction is an opportunity to practice something.
Waiting at gates. Giving arriving dogs space. Greeting people politely. Responding to their names. Respecting another dog’s “no.” Disengaging when play becomes too intense. And learning that it’s okay to simply relax.
Our team actively guides these interactions—reinforcing good choices, redirecting when needed, and helping dogs successfully navigate their social environment. Every day at daycare doubles as structured dog socialization.

The Right Friends Matter
Not every dog belongs in every playgroup—and that’s okay.
We consider temperament, play style, energy, confidence, size, social preferences, and individual relationships when creating groups.
Keeping our groups intentionally smaller allows us to make thoughtful matches, recognize when someone needs a break, and adjust as the dogs’ needs change.
Small Batch means adjusting the group to fit the dogs—not expecting every dog to fit the group.
Structured Daycare
A Better Rhythm for Their Day
Our daycare is offered in structured Morning, Afternoon, and Full-Day options rather than hourly care.
Consistent arrival and departure periods mean fewer interruptions, less gate activity, more stable social groups, and more opportunity for dogs to settle into a healthy rhythm.

Weekend daycare is available in the Cully Bigs Daycare and Boarding Center. It includes dogs of all sizes.

RCD has different policies in place for daycare and boarding during the holiday periods listed above that all clients who book during these times agree to. Please review the policies below. All reservations during this period are subject to these policies.
Daycare Cancellations

Daycare cancellations must be made 24 hours in advance or will be charged a full rate. Same-day daycare cancellations or no-shows are charged full rate. No-shows exceeding 3 occurrences are grounds for expulsion from all RCD programs.
Daycare During Holiday Period
Daycare will be closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Day. Daycare reservations are highly recommended throughout the holiday periods. Outside of these dates, drop-ins for daycare are allowed, but space is not guaranteed.
The Rest is Part of Daycare
We Teach Dogs to Do Something Surprisingly Important: Nothing.
A dog who knows how to play is great.
A dog who can stop playing and relax has another valuable skill.
Dogs are given opportunities to disengage, decompress, and rest throughout their day. When they choose to settle on their own, we reinforce that choice.
We don’t believe every minute of daycare needs to be exciting.
Calm isn’t the absence of daycare. Calm is part of daycare.
Socialization Support
Some Dogs Need a Little More Help Finding Their Place.

Not every dog arrives ready to confidently navigate a new social group—and we don’t expect them to simply figure it out alone.
Following a Meet & Greet assessment, dogs who show potential to enjoy Small Batch daycare but need additional help may be recommended for our dog socialization program, Socialization Support.
For one hour, your dog has a dedicated team member helping them safely navigate the social environment. We may begin with one or two carefully selected dogs, create space when needed, guide greetings and play, reinforce check-ins, provide breaks, and gradually encourage independence as confidence develops.
The goal isn’t to make your dog play.
The goal is to help them feel safe enough to make good social choices.
Socialization Support is recommended following assessment and scheduled directly through our Enrichment Coordinator.
Good Daycare Starts with the Right Fit
Every new dog begins with a Meet & Greet so we can learn about their personality, communication style, social preferences, and comfort in our environment.
Some dogs are ready for Small Batch daycare.
Some benefit from Socialization Support first.
And some dogs tell us group daycare simply isn’t their thing.
Our goal isn’t to make every dog fit daycare. It’s to determine whether daycare is a good fit for the dog.

Unaltered Dogs Disclaimer:
Unaltered dogs are only permitted in Private Daycare & Boarding (all dogs still require a Meet & Greet before booking).
Unaltered dogs under 7 months of age may qualify for cage-free boarding.
Dog Daycare FAQ
Do you separate big dogs and small dogs?
Our Cully location features two dedicated programs: Cully Bigs for dogs over 30 lbs., and our Little Dog Resort for smaller pups. Our Broadway location does not separate dogs based on size. Each of our daycare programs are designed with the dogs’ comfort and safety in mind.
What’s a typical day like for my dog?
Dogs enjoy a mix of active play, rest breaks, enrichment activities, and personalized attention. Each group has its rhythm, depending on the energy level and personalities on display. Rest assured, every moment is supervised by our trained team.
What’s included in a daycare session?
A full day of small group play, socialization, group enrichment, and loving care. We also provide real-time updates through our client app so you can stay connected. One-on-one enrichment and training can be added to any daycare day.
My dog is shy or reactive—can they still attend daycare?
Absolutely. Our Private Socialization Program gently introduces dogs to the daycare environment. Our experienced team tailors each session to your dog’s emotional needs while helping them gain confidence over time.
What’s required to get started?
Every new daycare guest begins with a Meet & Greet, a 45-minute appointment that helps us learn more about your dog’s personality and behavior. It also gives your pup a chance to get comfortable with our space and staff. From there, we build a plan that works for you and your dog.
Meet & Greets are $25 per dog. Once your dog successfully completes their Meet & Greet, the full $25 will be added to your Rose City Dogs wallet and can be used toward any of our services.
